20 March 2011 - The Lord's Prayer: A Fresh Look - Glen Bright

20 March 2011 - The Lord's Prayer: A Fresh Look - Glen Bright

Our annual Hispanic Conference is coming this July, with guest speaker & pastor Sergio Handal, missionary to Monterrey, MX. While Pastor Handal is with us this summer, he will be performing baptisms for those believers not yet baptized: Please let us know ahead of time, so that we can rejoice with the angels at those who have joined the kingdom of God and will be joining us in baptism as well.

Our next meetings are Friday at 7pm (Bible study) and Sunday at 5pm (Sunday regular meeting). Glen Bright was our guest speaker today, and he says he's been keeping track, more or less, of how many people are attending our regular meeting--and it's getting close to time to ask for more chairs again!

Glen's message was a fresh look at the Lord's prayer from Luke 11:1-4 and Matthew 6:5-15. The message took us, for insight, also to Matthew 6:34 and Colossians 1:16. The encouragement that the Lord's prayer gives us not only as to prayer, but as to conduct and to forgiveness and to many other aspects of our lives (and our lives to come) is carefully laden in God's word and Glen served it to us masterfully.

Themes for March 2011

During the month of March, we have heard messages from speakers like Glen Grosick, and we've been studying our memory verse for the month:
Jeremiah 32:27 "Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?"

César and Jackie have led their family in providing us with music that stirs the soul in leading worship. Ask them for details about the concert scheduled for April 2nd at 6pm.

13 Feb 2011 Glen Bright - Love, and True Love

The Fellowship Riders are working towards providing a dental clinic in August for those in need. More information will be available closer to the time. For information about how you can help with our Hispanic Conference in July, please see Annette, who has the sign-up sheet. In March we have our Missions Seminar; for more info, you guessed it, talk to Annette!

Glen

Today Glen took the occasion of Valentine's day to talk about Love. In our culture, we love chocolate, we love our cars, we love football -- so does that mean that we are a very "loving culture?" Or that we need to identify True Love?

We studied 1 John 4:8 and learned that God is Love. We learned from 1 Corinthians 13 about the qualities and importance of love. And in Matthew 22:36-40 how to apply love: Love God with all heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.

Friday Bible Study at Iglesia Hispana la Trinidad on Cashua Dr., 7pm; fellowship dinner follows.

Sunday Meeting at Iglesia Hispana la Trinidad on Cashua Dr., 5pm; fellowship dinner follows.

See you there! ¡Chau!

6 Feb 2011: Greg Stuckey--How can we be the workers?

Greg with Guillermo

6 Feb 2011: Greg Stuckey--How can we be the workers?

Week's Announcements: We are having a baby shower the 13th for Leti. Call Annette during the week for more information. At the end of March we will have a weekend seminar, of which Mauro has details. During July (7th-10th) we have our annual Hispanic Conference featuring Pastor Sergio Handal, missionary living in Monterrey, Mexico. Any within the Hispanic church who wish to be baptized at this time should contact Annette ahead of time. Also contact Annette to find out in what areas volunteers are still needed for the conference.

Jackie is giving music lessons during the week, and you can contact her directly for more information. Speaking of music, we need musicians, singers, sound technicians for our Hispanic services. Willingness to answer God's call on your life is the greatest qualification, above musical talent. Contact Mauro, Annette, Joe, Dawn, Jackie, or Cesar to get involved.

Greg Stuckey spoke at our meeting on 6 Feb 2011, observing that just as the Superbowl features millions of "viewers" watching only a few "players," so in the church we have many watchers and few doers, few workers. He shared with us some practical steps we can take to stop being those watchers, and start being the doers, the workers, from I Peter 4:7-11. We love Greg and his family very much and appreciate their service to our church family.

Please consider joining us for our upcoming 7pm Friday Bible study and fellowship meal and for our 5pm Sunday worship service, both held at our location on S. Cashua St. ¡Que Diós te bendiga!

30 Jan 2011 - Glen Grosick - Go: This means you!

What's happening with our Hispanic Ministry: Our Friday Bible study series on the family will conclude at 7pm this coming Friday at our facility on S. Cashua. Next month we will have a 3 day conference on "How can we be the disciples that reach the world," with practical steps for sharing the gospel. Get dates and details from Annette or Mauro. A little farther out, Annette has the sign up sheet for volunteers for our Hispanic conference coming in July. Please let her know how you can best volunteer to help.

GlenCesar and Jackie are helping us with our music, and we would appreciate your willingness to help as well. If you'd be interested in helping with the music in the Hispanic ministry, please contact Cesar, Jackie, Mauro, Annette, Joe, or Dawn.

Our dear brother Glen Grosick addressed the Hispanic Ministry today and spoke on "Taking what God does in the heart, and taking it 'out there.'" Centered on John 20:21, we learned that just as the Father has sent the Lord Jesus, so he also sends his apostles--and by extension, sends us, the saints in his church. Even though we might feel inadequate, or might feel that we lack training or education, there is no escaping the fact that we as the body of Christ *are* called to follow in his footsteps in the work of seeking and saving the lost. Glen explained to us several reinforcing and reassuring measures to help us have confidence in fulfilling the great commission found in Matt 28:19-20.

We meet again Friday night at 7pm for Bible study, and Sunday at 5pm for our worship service. Both meetings include dinner and Christian fellowship. Please consider yourself warmly invited.

23 Jan 2011 - Glen Bright: God looks on the heart

Glen

At today's meeting, 23 January 2011, we discussed our Hispanic Conference coming up in July. We expect many more people this year than last year, and everyone's help is needed; so, talk to Annette and let her know the areas in which you can volunteer. We also want to thank Donna Wilson, who spoke last week about Envoy International's missions work in Bolivia.

On Friday, at our 7pm Bible Study, Guillermo finishes up his series with a review of his study on building strong families in the Lord. Come hungry for food both spiritual and physical.

Glen Bright spoke today. He mentioned that we don't focus on labels, like what country a particular person is from, or what color, or what "denomination." Rather, the focus is on brothers and sisters in Christ, those in the family of God.

And God likewise focuses not on labels, but on the heart. We looked at the stories of two rich men in Luke 18 and 19: The rich young ruler who had to sell everything and give it to the poor, and who did not want to do so to gain the kingdom of heaven, and Zaccheus the tax collector, who had a repentant heart and to whom came that same day salvation.

Even though it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter Heaven, Zaccheus (who was rich) trusted in Jesus and was saved. Because what's impossible with men is possible with God. If God can change the heart of a tax collector, then he can change anyone's.

See you Friday at 7pm and Sunday at 5pm.

2011 Jan 16th - Donna Wilson, Envoy International

Donna Wilson, on Sunday Jan 16th, spoke about Envoy intl.'s missions work in Bolivia.

9 JAN 2010 - Greg Stuckey on What Jesus Does vs. the Indescribability of Who Jesus Is.

At our meeting on Sunday evening, we found out about the weekend conference coming up 13-15 January at Church at Sandhurst which they also want to make available to our Hispanic Ministry. For more information about cost and details, contact Mauro or Annette.

Also, we are already working on our Hispanic conference coming up in July. Last year we had about 300 people, and this year we'd like to double that, serving people not only of Florence county but of the surrounding counties. Anyone with the desire to help with the conference should contact Annette, who is coordinating volunteers.

Greg and JamieGreg Stuckey's message today sought to hold on for a moment to the decorations and spirit of Christmas, as we moved our too-often focus from what Jesus does onto who Jesus is.

Greg mentioned several things that are almost, but not entirely, indescribable: The Grand Canyon, the birth of his first child; the parting of the Red Sea. But Jesus as God and Creator, also coming to us as God, fully human, our redeemer, is cast in 2 Cor 9:11-14 as simply indescribable.

And that same Jesus tells us that as Christians, we are not alone (Matt 28:20). That we are precious and secure, children of God, his forever. And to have all this we need merely to submit to, to believe in, him--he who already did all the work that we could never do.

Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us, a truth so wondrous that it's indescribable.

Our next meetings are Friday at 7pm, dinner and Bible study, and next Sunday at 5pm.

2 Jan 2011 - Glen Grosick - "Resolutions"

Glen and Tia

2 Jan 2011 - Glen Grosick - "Resolutions"

Glen
Our dear brother Glen Grosick spoke, pointing out that many make new year's resolutions to read the Bible all the way through. And, many fail. So instead of just making a resolution, let's look at why we should read the Bible.

Those things written in the Bible were written by men, but men guided by the inspiration of God (2tim3:16). You can trust what the Bible says because God is its author. And the Bible is useful for these specific things:

1. Teaching. It's profitable and useful for teaching - you can expect to be instructed. About God, doctrine , Jesus, the Holy Spirit, about yourself, how you were created, what God's plan is for you.

2. Reproof. Scripture jumps up and smacks you in the face. The Holy Spirit says through scripture "you're wrong."

But God does not leave us in reproof; rather, he gives
3. Correction. (For example a list of things to do *instead*, in 2 Timothy)

4. Instructs us in righteousness. Nos enseña a vivir en rectitud. Reading the word gives us what we need to become righteous before God; a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and also how to walk daily in righteousness. "The Bible can produce results in your life."

The Bible can do these things and it's completely reliable. So, it's beneficial to read the Bible, and meditate on it, and relflect on it. Don't make a resolution, but make it a spiritual goal to real the Bible. If you don't have a daily time in God's word, start. If yes, continue, improve on it, increase your time.

If you take the point of view that the bible is boring or not relevant, stop and review these verses and see what they say about what the Bible is, where it came from, who wrote it, and what the potential results are in your life,

After Glen spoke, the Women's Ministry presented Bibles in Spanish to anyone who needed a Bible.

We had good music and food and fellowship. In our announcements, those willing to help out with the conference coming up in Aug 2011 should contact Annette. Our Friday Bible study resumes this coming Friday at 7pm. See everyone then!

FELIZ NAVIDAD! Dec. 24, 2010

FELIZ NAVIDAD! Dec. 24, 2010

Paul and Elizabeth Branch, missionaries
to Guatemala, together with their family,
joined us for our Christmas celebration.
Paul is a gifted pastor and teacher, and
spoke to a standing room only meeting on
just what we celebrate each Christmas:
People from so many countries, so many
places, so many different churches perhaps
disagreeing on minor things, but united in
the single most important thing ever--
that the baby born on that first Christmas
is the savior of the world, and he came as
God's love in the flesh to seek us, the lost,
and reach us with salvation. Paul encouraged
all present to receive, or rededicate anew to
receive, the forgiveness of sin, reconcili-
ation to God, fullness of life, and life
eternal given to us in the person and work of
the Lord Jesus Christ.

César and Jackie Morales and their family
led the encouraging and heartfelt celebration
in music and song, and the children and youth
presented a play entitled "Now I understand!"
chronicling one young person's path to Christ.

Our rich diet-breaking Christmas dinner of
tamales, turkey, chicken, potatoes, vegetables,
rice, salad, and other foods and desserts too
delicious to recount, left appetites satisfied
and sustained the sobremesa fellowship as Santa
Claus himself, "Ho! Ho! Ho!" handed out gifts to
the children from Trinity's angel tree (and from
Toys for Tots).

The Spirit of God was seen, and felt, and heard
throughout the meeting wherein people, some of
whom are far from home, had a close family
Christmas, full of not only gifts but of God's
love and in His name, that they might not other-
wise have had. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who
contributed this night and throughout the year.

CENA DE NAVIDAD - CHRISTMAS DINNER and KIDS PROGRAM

CENA DE NAVIDAD - CHRISTMAS DINNER and KIDS PROGRAM
Friday, December 24th, at 7pm, we will have
our annual Christmas dinner at our building
on S. Cashua. The kids and youth are presenting
a play about what Christmas means for "real life."
The dinner is set to be delicious and gifts will
be presented to the children. Bring your
children, and your appetite for food and
Christian fellowship.

EXCITEMENT, ENERGY, WORSHIP - LA FAMILIA MORALES

EXCITEMENT, ENERGY, WORSHIP - LA FAMILIA MORALES
We are very fortunate to have César
& Jackie Morales and their family
with us from Honduras, leading our music
and teaching us their energetic knowledge
of music ministry. Their spirit-led worship
in music and song can be seen, heard, and
felt by all present. Anyone who wants to
participate and serve in the music
Ministry should talk to César
or Jackie, or Joe or Dawn, and get
plugged in to music practice.

Dec. 19, 2010 THE OTHER CHRISTMAS MIRACLES - WICK JACKSON

THE OTHER CHRISTMAS MIRACLES - WICK JACKSON
This past Sunday, Dec. 19th., Wick Jackson,
our "norteamericano" brother with a superb
command of the Spanish language,
was once again our guest speaker. We got
a fresh look at the Christmas story--not
just about the traditional elements in
the nativity lore, but a closer look at
Zecharias, Elizabeth, and John the Baptist
as well: Jesus' family who experienced
miracles along with Mary and Joseph during that special time,
and John's amazing indwelling of the Holy Spirit,
even before his birth.

April 18th, 2010: 2010 Hispanic Conference announced - ¡No tengo miedo!

No Tengo Miedo

Our 2010 Hispanic Conference has been announced. It will be July 25th-26th at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church. All Hispanic people in the area are invited, for a celebration of food, fellowship, and fun.
Pastor Sergio Handal, missionary and pastor living in Monterrey, México, will be the invited speaker. The theme is "¡No tengo miedo!" ("I am not afraid!").

April 18th, 2010: Glen Bright encourages us to share the faith of the four

Glen and Mauro

Glen shared with us today from Mark chapter 2 about the healing of a paralyzed man, brought to Jesus by four friends. Jesus' priorities on seeing the man were to tend to his spiritual needs *first*, forgiving his sins, before considering his physical needs and healing him of his paralysis. This can be the opposite of how we see it sometimes, as we might tend to pray for healing first and only think about spiritual needs afterwards. It's good to see it from the point of view of the Lord Jesus.
Those four friends had faith, and showed it by bringing the man who was in need to Christ. We, too, should show our faith by bringing those in need to Christ.
Announcements: Friday meetings will continue on Friday, Apr. 23rd, with a meeting of both men and women at Meri's house; the current theme is the role of men in the church. Our 2010 Hispanic Conference coming up in July needs volunteers; to help out, see Annette and get your name on the list. Also, we are cooking for the Mother's Day celebration this year; if you cook, please see Annette for that list as well.

April 11th, 2010: Robert Jordan shares about God's grace through our trials

Robert and Mauro

This Sunday, we were pleased to once again have Robert Jordan come and speak. His message of God's grace through our trials spoke powerfully to hearts and minds alike.
Not only is God's grace in Christ all-sufficient for us through our trials, but we were created specifically to do His good works. From Ephesians 2:4-10... Because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Announcements: Friday meetings resume on Friday, Apr. 16th, with a meeting of both men and women at Meri's house; the theme is the role of men in the church. Our 2010 Hispanic Conference coming up in July needs volunteers; to help out, see Annette and get your name on the list.

April 4th, 2010: Mauro Diaz shares about the empty tomb, and our full salvation

Mauro Diaz

On this Easter Sunday, Mauro Diaz shared with us the message of Easter.
Of all those worshipped around the world, only Jesus' tomb is empty. All others are occupied -- no vacancy! The tomb is empty; the cross is empty; and our salvation is paid in full.

December 20th, 2009 - What does Christmas mean to you

Feliz Navidad.

This week Mauro Diaz shared with us some of the answers he has heard to the question, "What does Christmas mean to you, in one word?" With answers like "stress" and "spending," that we can relate to, how can we go from that to the true meaning of Christmas?
The answer lies in Christmas gifts. More specifically, the first Christmas gift: Jesus Christ willingly given as a sacrifice to pay for our sins, without cost, that we might have eternal life. We as believers in him not only have this gift, but have the power to give it to others by introducing them to the savior. Now, during the time of year when the whole world celebrates Christmas, people are open as at no other time to receiving this gift -- to learning what the first Christmas gift was, and how it can change their lives eternally. Can one person change the whole world? Maybe, maybe not. But one person can certainly tell a friend, a family member, or a coworker about Jesus Christ, the first Christmas gift, given to us out of love that we might live.
There are photos posted from this week's meeting.
Upcoming events: Celebración de la Navidad, 24 Dec. 7pm at Trinity EPC. Dawn and Joe's wedding, 26 Dec. 2pm at Trinity EPC. Special guest speaker for Sunday service, 27 Dec 5pm at the church (the trailer). Pastor Sergio Handal, who lives in Monterrey, Mexico, will be the invited speaker for all three of these events.

16 December, 2009

December 13, 2009 - Ray Harris shares from and about the Word of God

Trinity EPC elder Ray Harris shared this week with the Hispanic ministry in detail about the Word of God: The spoken, written, came-down-made-flesh, true, living Word of God. God's Word is always true. He will never fail you. He knows all about you and still loves you so much that he came down and died to make provision for you. Knowing this, we know that we can receive Him and trust Him completely.
Some photos from the meeting have been posted online.
     Announcements this week:
Trinity EPC's live nativity was moved to Dec 20th 6-8pm due to weather. Call for more information.
Our celebración de Navidad is Dec. 24th at Trinity EPC, 7pm.
This Friday the women's meeting is a bridal shower for Dawn, at 7pm at Annette's house. The men's meeting is also Friday at 7pm.

December 11th, 2009 - Niños de Trinidad participate in school band and chorus concert

On December 11th, 2009, some of the kids from Iglesia Hispana La Trinidad participated in the Briggs Elementary School band and chorus concert. The kids played and sang traditional and Christmas favorites for students and parents. In order to accomodate the large number of students and parents watching the concert, there were two shows, both on Dec. 11th. A few photos are posted online of the concert and the kids.

December 6, 2009 - Greg Stuckey brings message of Hope and Purpose to Hispanic ministry

The Stuckey Family
Once again this week the Hispanic ministry was blessed to have the Stuckey family as our guests: Greg and Jamie Stuckey and their girls. The Stuckeys are involved in ministry and missions not only in our area, but around the world, especially in South America. Some photos from the meeting are posted online.
Greg's engaging style is unforgettable, and nothing gets lost in translation. His message, from Ecclesiastes 1-3 and from I Peter 4:10, illustrated for us just how empty and meaningless life can be when we try to fill it with things, or relationships, or money; and how purpose-filled and satisfying it is when we as believers live instead for Christ, the only one who can truly fulfill. For complete fulfillment, follow these steps: 1. Become a child of God by trusting Christ. 2. Find your purpose in the spiritual gifts he has given you, and live to apply them in his service. We appreciate very much the time and effort that the Stuckeys have invested in the Hispanic ministry.
Important prayer need: Please pray for baby Bryan Herrera and family. Bryan is at MUSC with a ruptured intestine. His parents are with him. Please pray not only for strength, comfort, and healing, but also for provision, as his parents have not been able to work much during this difficult time. In Jesus' name, amen.
Announcements for the week: Each Saturday at 3pm, all kids need to be at the church (trailer) for practice for the children's program on Dec. 24th; this will continue until the program. Dec. 13th is the Live Nativity at Trinity EPC, from 5-8pm. Dec 18th there is a men's meeting at Evaristo's house, and a women's meeting-bridal shower for Dawn (who is getting married on Dec. 26th) at Annette's house. Both start at 7pm; kids go with the MEN this time. Our celebración de Navidad will be Dec. 24th at 7pm at Trinity EPC; if your kids are not already on the list, please contact Annette and make sure they are listed in order to receive a gift along with the other kids.
Our English (Spanish) class begins next week, Sunday, Dec. 13th, at 4pm, followed by our meeting at 5pm. All are welcome, Spanish-speaking or not, and as such, we hope to see you there. Peace & Love be with you in Christ.

30 November, 2009

November 29, 2009 Meeting

This week we were blessed to have Kevin and Meriam Smith visit with us from Trinity. Kevin brought us a message that cut straight to the heart of the matter of parenting, and our Biblical responsibility as parents to bring up the next generation not only of children, but of the future of the church and its leaders. Thanks, Kevin and Meriam and everyone at Trinity.
La Navidad viene - Christmas is coming. This was our first Sunday this year with Christmas decorations up, and we sang Christmas carols during music time. The weather was unseasonably warm, and we had another full house with around 50 attending the worship and teaching meeting at 5pm. Once again we were pleased to have lots of kids, and new mom Neli guided them in working on their Christmas program this year.
There are photos online from this week's meeting, including lots of photos of the kids at children's church. We celebrated November birthdays this week, with Juan, Glen, Alex, Francisco, Wendy, and several other cumpleañeros feasting on birthday cake.
Announcements from this week: December 18th we will have both mens' and women's meetings; Mens' meeting at the church (trailer) and women's meeting will be a bridal shower for Dawn at Annette's house. Both begin at 7pm. Our Trinidad celebración de Navidad is December 24th at 7pm at Trinity (the American church). Then, on December 26th at 2pm, Dawn and Joe's wedding will be at Trinity. Members of La Trinidad are hereby invited. Also, don't miss the Christmas events coming up at Trinity like the children's Christmas musical and the live nativity (more information is on Trinity's calendar).
Our English (Spanish) class begins next week, Sunday, December 6th, at 4pm, followed at 5pm by our meeting, and then our family fellowship dinner. We look forward to seeing you there, sharing in what Christ has done and is doing in our lives.

Mucha gente vinieron y la comida fue riquisima. Gracias, Trinity!

Iglesia Hispana la Trinidad would like to thank our brothers and sisters in Christ from Trinity for having us for Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 26th. Our brother Alan Guffy of Trinity EPC shared a message from the psalms about what God has done for us -- that we might be thankful. Plenty of people came, and shared the delicious food. Thanks, Trinity!

November 22,2009 Meeting

More photos...

Despite the rain, which ranged from drizzle to downpour this evening, we had good attendance, with about 40-45 people turning out in the inclement weather. We were very pleased to see such a good number of children, who, together with Neli and Mr. Charlie, got assigned their parts for their Christmas play this year. They were excited to work on this today.
Sincere thanks are extended to those preparing the food for today's family fellowship dinner, and especially to our speaker, Robert Jordan. The Lord is using Robert in ways that he may not even be aware of, and we were very blessed to have him share with us once again what God laid on his heart for us.
Today's message was one of thanksgiving: Once we truly understand what God is saying to us and doing in our lives--his living word--then it gets into our hearts and receiving it, you have to give thanks! Not only for "things" that you have, nor for what God might do for you in the future, but for the all-sufficient covenant relationship that believers have in Him, right now.
Each of us who hears the word of God, of his son Jesus, can choose to believe and be thankful, or can choose to refuse. Robert points out that if we receive God's word and then continue to complain about everyday things, we are like the seed in the parable of the sower (Mark 4) that was choked out by thorns. Instead, we should be like the seed that landed in fertile ground and gave fruit 30, 60, even a hundredfold. If we do, then we can't help but be thankful!

November 15, 2009 Meeting

More photos...

For our well-attended Nov. 15th meeting (I stopped counting at 50 people; we were full to the seams) we were blessed with two speakers, speaking with the unified voice of the Holy Spirit.
Brother Jay Lingle from Trinity shared with us, from Pslam 57 and from personal experience, about not only trusting God but praising him through trials, no matter how deep, no matter how long.
Brother Atif Jamil Paggan, from Pakistan, shared with us from his personal experience as a human rights advocate the persecution and murder that the church faces in that country at the hands of members of the majority Muslim community. His message was also one of trusting and praising God through trials, deep and long indeed. As we serve the Prince of Peace, we are called to bring his love and peace through salvation to all, even to those who persecute us.
Please pray for the church the world over, but in Pakistan specifically, that God may strengthen and protect them, and use them for His service even through the horrific conditions that they face. And, please pray, asking God: "Father, what is my role? How can I be part of the movement to free the church from oppression and spreading the gospel throughout the world?"

November 8, 2009 - Meeting

This week we heard from guest speakers Thad and Jeanette Davis a message of deep adversity, underlined by the message that God is a God of second chances. Not only can the Lord bring us through any trial, but he can actually use us as his witnesses--as he used the Davises--throughout the trials, no matter what problems come. We are very grateful to them for sharing with us and wish to thank them for coming.
Our time of fellowship and dinner after the meeting went warmly and well, and we are looking forward to next week.

November 1st, 2009

November 1st, 2009

Not only did our clocks change, but our meeting time changed as well. Starting with our Nov. 1 meeting yesterday, we are now meeting each Sunday at 5pm. English classes move to 4pm each Sunday. Please let anyone who wants to learn English (or Spanish) know about the new class time as well as the new meeting time. Even though the time change could have posed a challenge to attendance, I am happy to report that we had a packed house in spite of the temporal confusion.

Mauro Diaz brought a message about "Remodeling the Family." We learned about God's design for the family, how many of today's families don't follow God's design, and most importantly, what we can do about it. Each of us needs to make a conscious decision to follow God and his design for the family, just as Joshua did when he said, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Amen.

José and Neli brought their new baby, Marianeli. She is precious of course, and evidence of God working among us. We prayed for many prayer needs, including God's working within their family to strengthen them and that she might grow up always knowing what a solid, Godly family looks like.

We had music and our meal together, celebrated birthdays with cake and song, and had the time to give each other support and fellowship one-on-one, which is so important. Thanks to Juan for cooking the chicken, Maggie for the rice, and to everyone else involved in preparing and serving our meal.

The Word was brought to Trinidad Iglesia and a message was given on the Mind of Christ. Thanks to Mr. Glenn Bright, we learned more about having the mind set of Jesus, praying for people, being a people of prayer. We worshiped with some new Praise songs, led by Joe Staton and Dawn Armstrong. They will be married in December at Trinity!
We are thankful for our latest addition to the Family, Jose and Nelly were blessed with a little girl born 10/17. The food and the fellowship is always a wonderful time in the Lord. If you attended the 25th Anniversary Celebration, you saw some pictures from the past. It is humbling to see the Fruit and the results of labor in the Lord. New people are still coming and we welcome our first time visitors. Please continue to pray for us and that more would come to God's saving Grace. We love you Trinity.
