November 22,2009 Meeting

Despite the rain, which ranged from drizzle to downpour this evening, we had good attendance, with about 40-45 people turning out in the inclement weather. We were very pleased to see such a good number of children, who, together with Neli and Mr. Charlie, got assigned their parts for their Christmas play this year. They were excited to work on this today.
Sincere thanks are extended to those preparing the food for today's family fellowship dinner, and especially to our speaker, Robert Jordan. The Lord is using Robert in ways that he may not even be aware of, and we were very blessed to have him share with us once again what God laid on his heart for us.
Today's message was one of thanksgiving: Once we truly understand what God is saying to us and doing in our lives--his living word--then it gets into our hearts and receiving it, you have to give thanks! Not only for "things" that you have, nor for what God might do for you in the future, but for the all-sufficient covenant relationship that believers have in Him, right now.
Each of us who hears the word of God, of his son Jesus, can choose to believe and be thankful, or can choose to refuse. Robert points out that if we receive God's word and then continue to complain about everyday things, we are like the seed in the parable of the sower (Mark 4) that was choked out by thorns. Instead, we should be like the seed that landed in fertile ground and gave fruit 30, 60, even a hundredfold. If we do, then we can't help but be thankful!
