December 20th, 2009 - What does Christmas mean to you

Feliz Navidad.

This week Mauro Diaz shared with us some of the answers he has heard to the question, "What does Christmas mean to you, in one word?" With answers like "stress" and "spending," that we can relate to, how can we go from that to the true meaning of Christmas?
The answer lies in Christmas gifts. More specifically, the first Christmas gift: Jesus Christ willingly given as a sacrifice to pay for our sins, without cost, that we might have eternal life. We as believers in him not only have this gift, but have the power to give it to others by introducing them to the savior. Now, during the time of year when the whole world celebrates Christmas, people are open as at no other time to receiving this gift -- to learning what the first Christmas gift was, and how it can change their lives eternally. Can one person change the whole world? Maybe, maybe not. But one person can certainly tell a friend, a family member, or a coworker about Jesus Christ, the first Christmas gift, given to us out of love that we might live.
There are photos posted from this week's meeting.
Upcoming events: Celebración de la Navidad, 24 Dec. 7pm at Trinity EPC. Dawn and Joe's wedding, 26 Dec. 2pm at Trinity EPC. Special guest speaker for Sunday service, 27 Dec 5pm at the church (the trailer). Pastor Sergio Handal, who lives in Monterrey, Mexico, will be the invited speaker for all three of these events.
